Training

Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District is committed to providing top quality and industry leading education and training to further the safety and skills of not only TMFMD personnel but to the fire service in general. Continuing education, skill-based training and the implementation of new information and changing industry standards are essential parts of today’s Fire Service.  The Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District Training Division oversees the training of all District personnel and ensures compliance in our training with standards set by NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency), OSHA, NREMT (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians), AZ DHS (AZ Dept. of Health Services), FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and ISO (Insurance Services Office).

To meet the set standards and to ensure personnel are proficient in the skills necessary to meet the demands of responding to various type of emergencies, including medical emergencies, fires (structural and wildland), hazmat response, water emergencies, airport firefighting and a slew of other types of incidents, the Training Division uses many different platforms and technologies.  Some of these include hands on training scenarios at both training centers and in the public, technology based/virtual trainings such as seminars, in person classes and computer based, individual training programs to name a few.

In addition to overseeing in-house training, the TMFMD Training Division is active in assisting the region by participating in the Northeastern AZ Fire Chief’s Association training committee, actively working with Northland Pioneer College in providing instructors and assisting with the development of Fire Science classes and by administering the regional NAFCA, Target Solutions training software for multiple agencies in the area.
