On June 19th, 2021 at approximately 7:25 am, the community of the White Mountains suffered a tragic event. During the annual Bike the Bluff state championship race, a vehicle crossed several lanes of traffic and struck multiple riders involved in the race. The incident taxed the emergency response system however through constant training and professionalism, the first responders who were assigned to the incident were able to overcome many obstacles places before them. The incident resulted in all patients involved being transported either by ground ambulance or helicopter to medical facilities for treatment of their injuries.
